To combine my passion for open source software and my twelve plus years of networks and systems support experience, to design and implement technologies that provide secure reliable systems and that provide benefits for all parties involved.

 

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

 

Peterborough Technology Services - Information Technology January 2002 - Present

Systems / Network Support Specialist for the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service

  • Responsible for the overall secure administration of all networks and systems of the Peterborough Lakefield Community Police Service; this includes the Headquarters, Court Office, Lakefield Office and Mobile Workstations

  • Analyze, maintain and optimize networks, systems & other equipment to ensure that 24x7x365 operations are secure and continual for the application of Public Safety.

 

Directly responsible for the setup, maintenance and continual support of the following systems:

  • Novell SUSE Server for file management and GroupWise e-mail. User accounts and training, data security and backups.

  • Police Network Firewall and switch configurations, change management and analyzing of core network components. Script writing to improve performance and automate tasks.

  • 911 Communications Centre’s Computer Aided Dispatch systems and the 911 Call Logger.

  • Mobile workstations in the Police Cruises and their secure connections back to the Police Network

  • BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the corresponding MS SQL Database Server. The secure operation of 30+ BlackBerries

  • The Police Internet and Intranet web-sites. The Internet site is hosted by the City of Peterborough. The Intranet site is hosted internally on a Ubuntu LAMP stack

  • Building security video surveillance, inmate detention video recording and suspect/victims interview recording systems. The Justice Video Network for remote video court appearances

  • OSL Human Resources Management system and the corresponding MS SQL Database Server

  • Police Workstation in the Emergency Operation Centre (EOC) at the Peterborough Fire Department. As well as the network configuration of the Secondary EOC at the Peterborough Police Headquarters


Other responsibilities and duties:

  • Lead Local Registration Authority for the PKI/Entrust Infrastructure.

  • Directly responsible for mentoring and assisting co-op students from Sir Sandford Fleming College with various police sponsored technical projects.

  • Provide backup systems/network support to various departments throughout the City of Peterborough.

  • Member of the Ontario Police Technology & Information Co-operative Security Committee.

Level 1 Support Technician

  • Provide hardware & software support for the ATMs of 3 of the 5 major banks. Responsible for ensuring all systems are functioning securely and properly.

  • Responsible for ensuring the security of bank assets and property.

  • Provide hardware & software support for various Ontario Lotto & Gaming Corporation (OLGC) systems, kiosks and printers.

  • Provide support for Rogers high-speed network access to various clients.
